Dr. Ann Penn developed her love of animals while growing up in Davie, Florida. Her family kept horses, cattle, cats, dogs, chickens and other creatures. While very young, she decided to become a veterinarian. After high school, she started her training at University of Florida, where she received her Bachelor and Master’s degree in Animal Science. With her Master’s degree, she had the opportunity to teach Biology at Santa Fe Community College and taught for several years—a job she enjoyed. She was accepted into the UF College of Veterinary Medicine, graduated in 2007, and returned to South Florida to practice small animal medicine. After a few years in practice, she accepted a teaching opportunity to start a veterinary technician program, which allowed her to teach and be a veterinarian. Dr. Penn opened three technician programs in Florida. She returned to small animal practice in 2014 and joined Lakeside Animal Hospital in 2016.

Today Dr. Penn lives in Plantation, Florida, with her husband Miles, their dogs, Andi & Nikki, cats Jonesy & Ripley, and a crazy cockatoo named Muninn. Dr. Penn and Miles enjoy traveling, drag racing, kayaking, camping, and boating. Dr. Penn’s hobbies include yoga, brewing beer, and agility training with Andi.
